How do I get to and from Leonda By The Yarra?
We suggest driving, catching the train, tramming, or walking. We are also right on the Yarra River – anyone up for a water-ski?! Alternatively a private boat transport can be arranged through your Event Coordinator.
How many guests can Leonda fit?
For a sit down event with a dance floor our Garden Room can cater for approximately 80-130 pax. Our Ballroom alternatively suits 175-360 pax. For an exact number based on your specific floor plan please contact our Event Executive team on 9819 1933.
But is my preferred date free?
Give our Event Executive team a call on 9819 1933 or contact them here and they’ll be able to check the calendar for you on the spot!
Where should I park?
We have a car park on site with 150 spots. Should this become full we suggest parking along Yarra Boulevard.
Will I have to pay for parking?
We have a car park on site with 150 spots. To park at Leonda is complimentary to guests, however for those booking events their may incur a surcharge. Should this run out we suggest parking along Yarra Boulevard. Should you be required to park along Yarra Boulevard you may need to delve into those coins normally saved for a sneaky Cheeseburger.
I am coming from out of town slash my guests are. Where should I slash they stay?
Quest Apartments in Hawthorn is a good one, or the Amora Hotel on Bridge Road. Download this flyer for all the nearby accommodation goss. Alternatively the Langham Hotel is able to lavish you in 5 star pampering (contact your event coordinator for a discount code!)
Is Leonda wheelchair / skateboard / pram accessible?
Our spaces are definitely wheelchair friendly. An OH&S complient ramp can be hired at an additional fee. Please call your Event Coordinator on 9819 1933 for more information.
I want my guests to remember the food. Is it actually good?
We eat it every day and still can’t get enough of it! Our head chef Roland Gordon prides himself on delicious, well presented, generous sized dishes. Our menu is always kept current, and all dietaries can be catered for. Want a particular dish or style of menu? Just ask!
The food – are you sure though?
We include a complimentary menu tasting with all sit-down menu bookings so you can try firsthand how great our food is! This usually occurs between 1-4 months before your special day and will be communicated to you by your event coordinator.
Can I bring in my own spirits?
Why yes you can! One 700mL bottle can be placed on each table. Any remaining bottles can be placed behind the bar, and will be served by our friendly bar staff in line with our liquor license.
What do the kids get?
Children 12 years and under receive a special kids package – a 3 course menu, activity pack and a mocktail! Talk about spoilt.
Can I have a ceremony at Leonda?

What if I’m not having my reception at Leonda. Can I still have a ceremony?

What about photos in between the ceremony and reception?
We count ourselves quite fortunate with our surroundings! There are some gorgeous garden and river view spots to use within your photos, as well as the exterior of the venue and jetty area. There is even a playground in the park behind Leonda!
I want to bring in my own decorations. Is this allowed?
Go for it!
Do you have any sound restrictions?
Nope! Sing at the top of your lungs if you’d like!
Who does the MC-ing?
We think that an MC can be quite a personable aspect of a couple’s special day. It might be a brother, sister or uncle, or you might prefer to hire a professional. Whatever you choose it’s completely up to you! On the night we provide a function supervisor to liaise with your MC and can also provide either a hand held microphone or a more formal lectern and microphone.
Do you have winter specials?
We have the ability to tailor pricing for you based on your minimum number of adults, the package you’re after and its inclusions, AND the date you select. Provide us with all this information and out pops extreme value!
Oh no I forgot my *insert item*! What ever will I do!?
Brides, stress not – we have an extremely plentiful bridal cabinet available to you on your special day. Anything that a bride has ever asked us for in the past, we now stock in case you need it!
What should I wear?
You are likely to have a dress code stipulated on your event invite. However, if not then black suit pants or a black dress is always a safe option in Melbourne. Because black is the new black!
Are there any colours that guests should avoid wearing?
If you’re going to a wedding then white or ivory is out. If it’s a white party well then I think black might be out. Read your invite and dress accordingly my friends! Our walls are off-white. If you don’t want to blend into the walls maybe don’t where that either.
Is Twilight based on a true story?
Nope – it is most certainly fictional.
Can I bring a date?
Did your event invite stipulate that you were allowed to bring a plus one? Might be best to check with the powers that be on that one.
